The AEA R88A is an active stereo ribbon microphone based on the revered R88 mkII with custom toroid transformers.
The AEA R88A captures sound as we hear them providing an honest and natural representation of the source. The R88A ribbon microphone easily captures the sonic details of drums, strings, piano and other instruments producing a rich sound with complex transients.
The included transformer provides an extra 12dB of gain allowing the R88A to record all the intricacies of a quiet source like vocals or soft acoustic guitars. It also ensures optimum operation regardless of the preamp used as well as prevention of noise interference on long cable runs.
Being an active ribbon microphone, the R88A requires 48V phantom power to operate.
