Ex Machina Pulsar mkII – Compact 3-Way Active Studio Monitor for Precision Mixing

The Ex Machina Pulsar mkII is a compact yet powerful 3-way active studio monitor, engineered for exceptional accuracy across a wide range of studio environments. Whether used as a nearfield or midfield monitor, the Pulsar mkII delivers uncompromising detail, imaging, and tonal balance, making it ideal for both large control rooms and small production spaces.

Precision-Crafted Sealed Cabinet Design

The Pulsar mkII features a sealed, heavily braced Valchromat cabinet, offering superior density and damping compared to MDF or plywood. This high-performance construction eliminates port-related group delay and turbulence, resulting in cleaner transients and more accurate low-end reproduction.

Advanced Coaxial Midrange and Graphene Tweeter

At the core of the Pulsar's mid/high design is a TeXtreme carbon-fiber midrange cone, known for its ultralight, ultra-stiff properties. Paired with a free-standing GrapheneQ tweeter, this configuration delivers a wide and stable sweet spot with minimal resonance and excellent off-axis response. The use of GrapheneQ, a cutting-edge material with a superior stiffness-to-weight ratio, ensures incredibly fast and accurate high-frequency performance.

High-Performance SEAS Subwoofer

The custom-designed 22cm SEAS subwoofer boasts a 28mm linear excursion and up to 56mm mechanical capability, with a lightweight aluminium alloy diaphragm, large magnet structure, and symmetrical suspension. These features enable tight, extended low-frequency performance with speed and control that meet the demands of critical listening.

Hypex Ncore Amplification and SHARC DSP

Each Pulsar mkII is powered by 2nd-generation Hypex Ncore Class D amplifiers, providing clean, linear power with ultra-low distortion and excellent damping. A dedicated SHARC DSP manages digital crossovers, protection limiters, and system calibration, while AKM Velvet Sound converters and a low-jitter master clock preserve detail and transparency from input to output.

Individually Calibrated for Accuracy

Every Pulsar mkII undergoes individual in-house calibration to linearise its frequency, phase, and impulse response. Each monitor is assigned a unique serial and calibration tag, ensuring matched consistency and reliability across any stereo or multi-channel setup.
