Next Generation Analog Mix & Master Processor with Digital Recall
The WesAudio ngOmniBox brings an entire analog mix bus and mastering chain together in one fully recallable hardware processor.
Traditionally, engineers have built their stereo bus and mastering chains from multiple individual processors, combining equalization, compression, saturation, clipping and stereo image control to create the final sound of a mix. The ngOmniBox integrates all of these essential processing stages into a single, flexible fully analog stereo signal path, while adding the convenience of digital control, automation and recall.
At the heart of the ngOmniBox is a comprehensive analog processing chain consisting of a passive EQ, stereo bus compressor, saturation stage, clipper and stereo width processor. Dedicated input and output sections provide precise gain staging, while external insert points allow additional analog hardware to become part of the ngOmniBox signal chain.
Every processing block can be activated or bypassed independently, so the signal chain can be adapted to the requirements of each individual mix or master.
Fully Analog Processing with Digital Recall
The ngOmniBox is designed to combine the sonic advantages of analog hardware with the convenience of a modern DAW workflow.
Although the audio processing remains analog, parameters can be digitally controlled and recalled. Settings can therefore be stored with a session and recalled directly from the ngOmniBox plug in.
Integrated A/B/C comparison makes it easy to evaluate different processing settings, while the front panel LCD provides precise visual feedback for parameter values. The accompanying DAW plug in provides control, automation and recall directly within your session.
This makes the ngOmniBox particularly suitable for modern hybrid studios where analog processing is required without sacrificing fast session recall.
Passive Analog EQ
The ngOmniBox includes a dedicated fully analog passive equalizer designed for broad and musical tonal shaping.
Rather than forcing the EQ into a fixed position within the processing chain, WesAudio allows it to operate either before or after the bus compressor.
Switch instantly between:
EQ → Compressor
or
Compressor → EQ
Changing the order of these two processing stages can significantly change how the compressor reacts and how tonal adjustments interact with dynamics processing, providing two different approaches to shaping a stereo mix.
Stereo Bus Compressor
A dedicated analog stereo bus compressor provides dynamics control and classic mix bus processing.
Designed for mix bus glue, dynamics control and final mix shaping, the compressor can operate as part of the complete ngOmniBox chain or be independently bypassed when compression is not required.
Together with the selectable EQ and compressor routing, this gives the ngOmniBox considerable flexibility when building a mastering or stereo bus processing chain.
Analog Saturation
The dedicated analog saturation section adds harmonic character and density independently from the EQ and compressor.
Saturation is fully variable, allowing anything from subtle enhancement to more obvious harmonic coloration depending on the material. The entire section can also be independently bypassed.
Analog Clipper
The ngOmniBox also incorporates a dedicated analog clipping stage.
Designed for peak control, additional loudness and transient shaping, the clipper provides another processing option for controlling the final dynamics of a mix or master before output. Like the other sections, the clipper can be bypassed independently.
Stereo Width Processing
A dedicated stereo width section provides precise adjustment of the stereo image.
This allows the width of a mix to be controlled directly from the ngOmniBox without requiring another external processor. The width section remains completely independent and can be bypassed whenever stereo image processing is not required.
Flexible Analog Insert Points
The ngOmniBox is not limited to its internal processors.
A dedicated input insert point allows external analog equipment to be incorporated into the signal chain, making it possible to combine favourite outboard processors with the ngOmniBox architecture.
An additional output insert point is available at the final stage of the processing chain.
Importantly, the output insert can operate in either Stereo or Mid/Side, creating additional possibilities for integrating external mastering processors before the final ngOmniBox output stage.
Precision Input and Output Control
The input section includes:
- Fully controllable stereo input level
- Integrated High Pass Filter
- Input level metering
- Dedicated input insert point
The output section provides:
- Fully controllable stereo output level
- Output level metering
- Dedicated output insert point
- Stereo or Mid/Side insert operation
- Precise final gain staging
These dedicated input and output stages make it possible to control levels throughout the complete processing chain rather than relying on external gain adjustment.
DAW Plug In Control
The ngOmniBox plug in brings the complete hardware processor into the DAW environment.
From the plug in, users can control and recall the analog hardware settings as part of a session, combining the tactile workflow and signal path of a hardware processor with the convenience normally associated with software processing.
The system supports control, automation and recall directly from the DAW, while the actual processing remains in the analog domain.
A Complete Analog Mix Bus and Mastering Chain
Rather than combining numerous individual pieces of analog hardware, the WesAudio ngOmniBox provides the major processing stages of a contemporary mix bus or mastering chain within a single system:
- Fully analog stereo processing
- Passive analog EQ
- Analog stereo bus compressor
- Variable analog saturation
- Analog clipper
- Stereo width processing
- High Pass Filter
- Controllable input and output gain
- Input insert point
- Stereo or Mid/Side output insert
- Switchable EQ and compressor order
- Independent bypass for processing sections
- Full digital parameter recall
- A/B/C comparison
- Integrated LCD display
- DAW plug in control
- DAW automation and session recall
The result is a highly flexible centerpiece for professional mixing, stereo bus processing and mastering, providing analog sound without giving up the recallability expected from a modern studio workflow.
