Barefoot Sound LFE12

The Barefoot Sound LFE12 is a professional 12-inch studio subwoofer designed specifically to extend the low-frequency performance of Barefoot Sound Footprint® monitors. Featuring two opposing 12-inch aluminum-cone woofers with Barefoot’s Dual-Force™ technology, 1400 watts of amplification, and frequency extension down to 17 Hz, the LFE12 delivers deep, powerful bass while maintaining the speed, accuracy, and control required for critical studio monitoring.

Designed for stereo, surround, and immersive audio systems, the LFE12 can be used to extend a stereo Footprint monitoring setup or as a dedicated LFE channel for 5.1, 7.1, Dolby Atmos, and other multichannel environments.

Dual 12-Inch Dual-Force™ Technology

At the heart of the LFE12 are two opposing 12-inch aluminum-cone woofers with neodymium motors. Barefoot Sound’s Dual-Force™ configuration positions the drivers so that they operate together acoustically while their mechanical forces act in opposite directions.

This force-cancelling design substantially reduces the mechanical energy transferred to the enclosure, minimizing cabinet movement and unwanted vibration. The result is a more stable platform for accurate low-frequency reproduction, allowing the LFE12 to produce powerful bass with excellent definition, transient response, and control.

Combined with its sealed cabinet and 1400-watt amplifier, the LFE12 delivers low-frequency reproduction extending down to 17 Hz without sacrificing the precision expected from a professional studio monitoring system.

Designed for Barefoot Sound Footprint® Monitors

The LFE12 has been engineered to integrate with the complete Barefoot Sound Footprint Series, including the Footprint®01, Footprint®02, Footprint®03, and Footprint®03C.

For stereo monitoring, dual BOOST inputs with full-bandwidth THRU outputs allow the LFE12 to extend the bass response of a pair of Footprint monitors. Selectable 60 Hz and 80 Hz BOOST filters provide flexibility when matching the subwoofer to different speakers and monitoring configurations.

Rather than simply adding more bass, the LFE12 extends a Footprint monitoring system into true full-range territory while retaining the speed, accuracy, and control required for recording, mixing, and mastering.

LFE for Dolby Atmos and Multichannel Studios

For surround and immersive audio applications, the Barefoot LFE12 features a dedicated LFE input for use as the low-frequency effects channel in 5.1, 7.1, Dolby Atmos, and other multichannel monitoring systems.

Selectable 80 Hz and 120 Hz LFE low-pass filters make it possible to configure the subwoofer for different monitoring requirements. A stepped input level control from +3 dB to -9 dB and selectable 0 dB / +10 dB gain provide precise and repeatable system calibration.

The LFE12 therefore works equally well as a dedicated professional LFE subwoofer or as a low-frequency extension for a stereo Barefoot Footprint monitoring system.

Independent BOOST and LFE Control

The included dual-switch foot controller provides independent hands-free control of the LFE and BOOST modes directly from the listening position.

BOOST can be engaged or muted when checking the extended low-frequency response of a stereo mix, while LFE can be controlled independently in a multichannel system. Both modes can also operate simultaneously.

This makes it quick and easy to compare monitoring configurations, evaluate the contribution of the subwoofer, and make critical low-frequency decisions without interrupting the mixing workflow.

Professional Connectivity and Integration

Balanced XLR connections provide professional studio connectivity, while the dual BOOST inputs include full-bandwidth THRU outputs for straightforward integration with stereo monitoring systems.

A dedicated LFE input handles multichannel applications, while selectable filtering, stepped level adjustment, and gain control provide the tools required for accurate system setup.

The LFE12 also includes a USB-C factory calibration port.
