Cranborne Audio C.A.S.T. Intro Bundle
The Cranborne Audio C.A.S.T. Intro Bundle provides everything needed to create a C.A.S.T.-enabled studio and distribute fully balanced analogue audio using standard shielded network cable.
Built around the Cranborne Audio N8 C.A.S.T. Distribution Hub, the bundle includes N22 and N22H breakout boxes, a rackmount kit, N22H power supply and two 10-metre Cat 6e cables. Together, the system provides a flexible solution for transporting analogue inputs, outputs and headphone monitoring between control rooms, live rooms, vocal booths and recording spaces.
Using Cranborne Audio's C.A.S.T. system, a single network cable can replace four conventional XLR cables while carrying balanced analogue audio over distances of up to 100 metres / 330 feet.
Audio Over Cat 5 Made Easy
C.A.S.T. uses standard shielded Cat 5e, Cat 6 or Cat 7 network cable to transport fully balanced analogue audio.
Each C.A.S.T. connection carries four channels of analogue audio, allowing multiple conventional audio cables to be replaced by a single network cable.
The result is simpler cable management and easier deployment throughout studios, stages and mobile recording environments.
N8 C.A.S.T. Distribution Hub
At the centre of the bundle is the Cranborne Audio N8.
N8 connects directly to the analogue I/O of an audio interface via its 8-input and 8-output DB25 connections using Tascam wiring. It then distributes that analogue I/O across four independent C.A.S.T. connections.
Up to four C.A.S.T. breakout boxes can be connected simultaneously, with the C.A.S.T. Intro Bundle already including two breakout boxes in the form of the N22 and N22H.
The N8 itself operates completely passively and requires no external power.
N22H Headphone Amplifier & C.A.S.T. Breakout
The included Cranborne Audio N22H combines a C.A.S.T. breakout box with a reference-grade headphone amplifier.
Connected to the N8 through a single network cable, the N22H can receive a microphone signal from a remote recording room while simultaneously receiving a headphone mix from the control room.
This makes it possible to place a performer, microphone and headphone monitoring system in a vocal booth or recording space while connecting everything back to the control room with a single C.A.S.T. cable.
The N22H requires power for its headphone amplifier, and a 9V power supply is included in the bundle.
N22 Passive C.A.S.T. Breakout Box
The included Cranborne Audio N22 is a completely passive C.A.S.T. stagebox and breakout box.
It can be positioned in a live room, vocal booth, hallway or other recording location and connected to the N8 using a single network cable.
Microphones, speakers and other analogue equipment can then be connected to and from the control room over distances of up to 100 metres / 330 feet.
Up to 100 Metres of Analogue Audio Distribution
C.A.S.T. is compatible with shielded Cat 5e, Cat 6 and Cat 7 network cable and supports cable lengths of up to 100 metres / 330 feet.
Cranborne Audio recommends high-performance Cat 6 and Cat 7 cable for improved crosstalk performance.
Because C.A.S.T. carries analogue audio directly through the copper conductors of the network cable, the system does not require digital audio networking or additional audio conversion.
48V Phantom Power Support
The C.A.S.T. system fully supports 48V phantom power.
This allows compatible microphone preamps and interfaces to provide phantom power to microphones connected remotely through the C.A.S.T. system.
Microphone signals, monitor feeds and phantom power can therefore be distributed through the same streamlined cabling system.
Expandable C.A.S.T. System
Although the bundle includes N22 and N22H breakout boxes, the N8 provides connectivity for up to four C.A.S.T. breakout boxes.
The system is compatible with Cranborne Audio C.A.S.T.-enabled products including N22, N22H, Camden EC1 and Camden EC2, allowing the system to be expanded as studio requirements grow.
